Under the aegis of the Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and the Digital Economy, the 15th edition of the Med-IT show, held on 29 and 30 November 2016 at the International Congress Centre in Skhirat, received 2,500 professional visitors, of whom 66% were decision-makers (general managers, IS directors and IT project managers).
The Show was officially inaugurated at 9 a.m. on 29 November 2016 by Ms Samia Chakri, Director of the Digital Economy and Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and the Digital Economy, in the presence of the event's institutional partners and official sponsors.
For the 2016 edition, which coincided with the Show's 15th anniversary, the results of a new survey on "The maturity of Big Data in Morocco", carried out with a panel of 300 different-sized companies in various business sectors, were presented on the afternoon of 29 November by Alexandre Akrour, an expert in the field.
Given that MED-IT was held this year straight after COP 22, Green IT was one of the themes in the scientific programme (over 30 talks), which also explored innovation and data security.
Regarding the participants, MED-IT 2016 hosted 80 exhibitors, including around 50 from abroad. Belgium was the Guest Country, with a pavilion of ten innovative IT firms from Wallonia accompanied by the AWEX (Agence Wallonne à l’Exportation). The other countries represented included France, Spain, Italy, China, Canada, Portugal, India, Poland, Russia and Tunisia.
